Pictures and DVD

Please be sure to send a baby picture and a current picture to school with your child by this Friday.  They will be used in the DVD that will be shown at the 6th grade recognition ceremony.  If you are interested in ordering a copy of the DVD, please send $12 and the order form to school with your student. 

6th Grade Recognition

The 6th grade recognition program is coming up on Wednesday, May 25th.  It will be at the Southwest Little Theater from 6:30-8:00.  There will be a short presentation and cake and punch after.

Field Trip

Wow!  How can it be May already?  Our field trip to the MN History Center is coming up on Friday, May 20th.  Watch for a permission slip later this week or early next week.  We would love to have you come along as a chaperone.   It is a really fun trip.

Warm Coats Please!

Please remind your child to wear warm winter clothing to school.  There are a few who are not wearing coats and many that are not bringing gloves and hats.  I think that last week's warm weather gave all of us a taste of spring.  However, we have some cold winter weather to look forward to yet...or at least be prepared for!  : )

Skating Party

Our Valentine's celebration will be on Monday afternoon.  We will be heading to the city arena a little after 12:00 for an afternoon of ice skating.  If the kids have skates of their own, they are welcome to bring them.  Please be sure that the blades are protected so that no one gets hurt.  Skates will be available at the arena for everyone who needs them.  Thank you SHARE and room parents for covering the whole cost of our trip!  The bus will bring the kids back to Sibley before the end of the school day.  Because we will be gone all afternoon I told the kids that we would not be passing out and opening Valentines.  If your child really wants to bring in Valentines it is fine as long as they bring one for everyone in the class.  We will just pass them out in mailboxes before the end of the day. 

Sibley Family Fun Night

Tonight is Sibley Family Fun Night.  Doors open at 6:00 and the fun will last until 8:00.  I hope that all of you can make it.    

First Grade Buddies

Wow.  What an amazing experience we had this morning.  Our 6th graders partnered up with their 1st grade lunch buddies and spent some time reading together before walking down and eating lunch.  They did an amazing job reading and discussing books.  Lunch was a great way for them all to continue building relationships.  I was really proud of them.  Nice job 6th graders.  I think many of you have a gift for teaching.  : )
